Pieri - Artist Biography

Pieri (Fernando Sampieri, 1995) is a Mexican contemporary artist and founder of Pieri Gallery, whose work merges urban art and pop culture within a distinct visual language. His practice is organized in collections where each series develops through related sculptures and paintings. From his studio in Veracruz, his work is part of private collections and is presented in galleries and international events.

His relationship with art began at the age of 11 within the family business, where he helped his mother paint ceramic figures for children’s parties. This first hands-on contact with materials marked the beginning of a practice based on constant experimentation and self-taught learning. Years later, during university, he discovered contemporary art influenced by popular culture and decided to produce his first personal work. That moment confirmed his decision to dedicate himself professionally to art, beginning an independent process of technical development in painting and sculpture.

Alongside his artistic practice, he studied Economics, a background that allowed him to structure his career with a strategic vision and establish direct relationships with collectors, companies, and galleries outside Mexico. In 2017 he founded Pieri Gallery, the platform under which he produces and presents his work internationally.

Pieri’s work is characterized by reinterpreting recognizable characters and symbols within an aesthetic linked to contemporary luxury, developed through painting and sculpture. Surface plays a central role in his work: high-gloss finishes, vibrant colors, and mirror effects define his visual identity.

Among his most recognized works are Billionaire Duck, Kong Freedom, and Life in Tones × The Guardian, pieces that have circulated in private collections and international events, as well as in high-profile sports and corporate gatherings, including participations related to Formula 1, golf tournaments, and art fairs. At the same time, he has developed art-for-cause initiatives, carrying out creative activities with children in rehabilitation processes and charitable collaborations where art functions as a space for expression and coexistence.

In each collection, the format and materials change together with the idea that originates them. In Kong Freedom, the sculpture integrates real chains, a pallet, and an intervened container that cease to be support and become part of a narrative of rupture and liberation. In Billionaire Duck, a transformed barrel turns an everyday object into a symbol linked to ambition and contemporary culture. In Life in Tones × The Guardian, painting and sculpture connect to build a piece centered on the idea of refuge and balance within the family space. Thus, each series defines its own way of existing in space instead of repeating itself.

His production is carried out entirely in his studio in Veracruz, where he develops each work from design to final finish. Currently, Pieri Gallery maintains an active international circulation: in addition to direct relationships with collectors, galleries and curators in different countries integrate his pieces into exhibitions and events.

Pieri’s practice starts from the idea that the work is not an isolated or decorative object, but a symbol that gains meaning in relation to those who live with it.

In the future, he seeks to continue developing new collections that expand his exploration of contemporary symbols within sculptural and pictorial language.
